The Royal Poinciana tree blooms like a wild wildfire of scarlet and gold, orange and yellow colors. Each fragile petal dances in the wind like a butterfly ready for a flight. Crimson Majesty

The majesty of this tree is incredible. The red flowers with their touches of orange, and the way its trunk supports so much beauty while its branches spread out like wings, make it impossible not to admire. Whether you’re driving by or simply out for a walk, its vibrant color catches your eye and makes you stop for a moment to appreciate it. It’s one of those beautiful reminders of how nature can turn an ordinary moment into something special.

These crimson beauties adorn both sides of the pathway leading to the front of the church, a fitting reminder of the sacred sacrament of the blood of Christ

My Red Tunnel

Captured along Birch Tree Hill Road, at the Capt. Joe and Osbert Road junction in West Bay, these two hugging Poincianas always make my day. I call it "My Red Tunnel" since the fiery red sight stands out and even the blooms that had fallen down cover that part of the road which feels like a fairytale. I feel I am back home (Philippines), and most of the time, I slow down to bask in the reverence of what God has created.

Order #8: Crimson Exit

Every trip to the Wendy’s Savannah drive thru follows the exact same script: pull up, order a Number 8 (the Asiago Chicken Sandwich), and creep along the lane toward the food window. And every single time, as I wait by the red exit sign, that poinciana tree is sitting right there, exploding in red. On this particular day, instead of just staring at it while waiting for my #8, I decided to stop letting the moment pass me by and actually make use of the wait. I grabbed my camera to capture that brief, familiar alignment where a run to Wendy’s meets a stunning burst of island nature.

Variations in Bloom

Three Poinciana blossoms, each displaying its own combination of color, pattern, and form. Placed side by side, their differences become as striking as their similarities—from deep red and orange to brilliant gold, each bloom reveals a different expression of the same remarkable tree.

A Blaze of Poinciana

A Poinciana in full bloom becomes a tapestry of gold, orange, and fiery red. I was drawn to the abundance of flowers and the layers of color, with one cluster emerging from the sea of blooms around it. This image captures the spectacular display that makes the Poinciana so unmistakable when the tree is at its peak.

In Every Stage

What drew me to this cluster was the story unfolding within it. Buds waiting to open sit alongside vibrant blooms, fading petals, and flowers that have already begun to fall away. Each stage is different, yet together they form the beauty of the Poinciana. Rather than capturing only the tree at its most perfect moment, I wanted to show that its beauty exists in every stage—from beginning to bloom, and even as the flowers begin to fade.
